The Inter Dyne Difference: How We Make Stainless Steel Countertops and Assemblies

What makes Inter Dyne stainless steel lab furnishings different? We start with high-quality 16-gauge, 304 stainless steel with a #4 finish and then use a unique construction process to ensure optimal durability.

The Inter Dyne Process

Inter Dyne countertops and tabletops are cut on a laser or waterjet machine large enough to eliminate the need for mechanical seams. When a backsplash is required, we bend the steel using a brake press.

For countertops with integrated sink bowls, we place the 14-gauge bowl using a pump cart. Once the sink bowl is welded to the countertop, an aluminum block structure with an antifreeze chilling machine is used to cool the stainless steel, to prevent warping.

For countertops that include a backsplash and side splash(es), the backsplash is bent at the corners; this way, when we weld the side splashes to the backsplash, we’re able to weld on a flat surface in order to get an even radius on all three weld spots.

Finishing and Support

Once a countertop or tabletop assembly is welded together, it moves to our finishing department. Any welding is carefully finished with abrasive tools to create a seamless, integrated look and durable construction.

When all finishing is complete, a stainless steel hat channel substrate is affixed to the underside of the countertop. Channels are welded to each other and to the sides of the countertop for maximum support and durability. From here, a sound-deadening compound is applied between the channels. Table frames are made of 2″ stainless steel square tube legs and adjustable bullet-type feet.
